In response to broker and group feedback, Aetna made some updates to its underwriting guidelines. For AFA (level funded) and 51-100 fully insured business, they will now allow date of hire BWP (benefit waiting period) offerings for groups with 15+ enrolled.
When a new group is sold, it is important to include this BWP election with the new group enrollment paperwork. For existing groups, this change is only allowed at renewal and should be submitted with the renewal package.
