Aetna lowered their PPO rates for Q4 from what was announced on July 12. The revised PPO rates will be live in HealthConnect on August 15. Your sales team will notify you if you have a quote that needs to be re-run.
Here is the statewide quarterly average rate change:
- Full HMO -1.9%
- Limited HMO 0%
- Full PPO -3.4%
- Limited PPO -3.8%
- Full PPO HSA 3.6%
- Limited PPO HSA 3.6%
- Full EPO -4.3%
- EPO HSA 3.6%
A New App for the Apple Watch
Aetna’s new Attain by AetnaSM app combines members’ health history with their Apple watch activity. The app offers personalized goals, healthy actions, and big rewards. It’s available to commercial medical members ages 18 or older. Space is limited to about 250,000 medical members at this time. Full details are included in the Attain fact sheet and the Attain flyer.
Product Reminders
Aetna brought back the Bronze 50/50 6800 deductible plan design on July 1. The non-HSA plan offers first dollar outpatient benefits for primary care visits, lab services, walk-in clinics, urgent care, and generic drugs. It’s in the MC and Savings Plus Network.
Underwriting Reminder
Here’s a reminder of the underwriting changes that took effect July 1, 2019:
- No DE9C is required for groups with 6 or more enrolling with prior employer group coverage. No prior carrier billing is required at this time.
- Participation guidelines:
- Groups offering another carrier's HMO must have at least 25% participation and a minimum of five employees enrolling in an Aetna plan
- Valid waivers now include individual coverage on and off the exchange
- New Business Submission Deadline:
- 1st of the month effective dates: 1st of the month
- 15th of the month effective dates: 15th of the month
