Anthem Blue Cross recently made benefit changes to certain Bronze plans in response to state regulatory approval requirements.
The following plans are in Anthem's Direct Portfolio on both Full and Select PPO networks:
- Bronze PPO 70/6300/35%
- Bronze PPO 60/6350/40%
- Bronze PPO 40/5600/40%
- Anthem's exchange plan, Bronze EPO A, is also impacted.
These plans no longer waive the deductible for the first three office visits, and they have increased telehealth visits from three free visits to 12 visits through LiveHealth Online (LHO).
Both new and renewing groups are impacted. If a claim is received after May 1, the claim will be paid according to the new benefits. Anthem will have a special Open Enrollment for impacted Bronze plans. Here are the rules verbatim:
- The Special Open Enrollment period applies to only impacted January to April 15 new and renewing groups that have enrollment in the 2020 Bronze plans. If a group also offers Specialty products, the OE will not apply to the Specialty plans.
- The time frame for submitting the OE changes will be March 1 to May 31 for a May 1 effective date.
- When making the plan change, the new rate will include any birthday changes.
- OE changes will go to Anthem’s Enrollment & Billing area. Correspondence must say “Bronze Special Open Enrollment.” Please Note – These changes cannot be processed on Employer Access.
The Ease libraries have been updated to reflect the new benefits.
