Anthem is making temporary changes to health plan benefits to provide relief and ensure healthcare access for our members impacted by the following wildfires in California:
- Oceanside Pier Fire in San Diego County, City of Oceanside
- Bear Fire in Sierra County
- Shelly Fire in Siskiyou County
The changes are in effect November 1 through December 1, 2024, for all members in all three counties.
Anthem wants to help make sure members have access to the healthcare they need. The changes also apply to emergency responders who have been activated to the impacted area by their state or local agency, but who do not live in the impacted area.
- Emergency or urgent care
- Receive emergency or urgent care from any doctor or hospital, even if they are not in the plan’s network.

- Prescription drug refills
- Receive up to a 30-day emergency refill at any pharmacy now.
- Report an address change to 833-285-4030 to receive Anthem home delivery pharmacy medication.
- Medical equipment that is lost or damaged
- Replacement medical equipment. Call us at 833-285-4030.
- Eyeglasses or contact lenses that are lost or damaged
- Replacement eyeglasses or contact lenses. Call us at 833-285-4030.
- Preapprovals or referrals
- Extra time allowed, no late fees. Call 833-285-4030 for an extension.
- Filing a claim
- Extensions allowed. Call 833-285-4030 for an extension.
- Mental health support and life challenges
