The new name, pending shareholder approval, will be Elevance Health. Please know this change will have no impact or changes to your plans, coverage, or level of support. They will continue to do business under the Anthem name in each market.

To reflect the next important chapter in our journey, as it better reflects our business and the company we are today, Anthem, Inc. will be changing to Elevance Health, with shareholder approval. While the corporate name change is the first step, we are also focused on optimizing and streamlining our portfolio of brands over the next few years, to offer a better experience for our customers, reduce complexity, and be better positioned to compete against both incumbents and emerging disruptors.
Will Anthem Blue Cross/Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans still carry the Anthem name?
Yes. Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield is the local operating brand in many of our markets and has significant brand preference and consideration with our consumers, customers, and other partners. These plans will continue to improve health by addressing consumer needs at a personal level, removing barriers, and creating more meaningful connections across a lifetime of milestones and experiences.
When will the changes take effect?
Pending approval from shareholders, the change from Anthem, Inc. to Elevance Health is expected to take place by the end of the second quarter of 2022. Future changes to streamline brand portfolios will be communicated at later dates.
Will there be any organizational structure or leadership changes to Anthem, Inc.?
No organization or leadership changes will occur as a result of the name change.
How does this impact health plan members and providers?
There is no impact to health plan member benefits, enrollment, or ID cards as a result of the proposed name change from Anthem, Inc. to Elevance Health. Our affiliated health plans will continue to operate as they do today. Provider agreements are held by our affiliated health plans.
We will communicate any changes to optimize and streamline our brand portfolio in the future and any impact it may have, after the shareholder vote for our holding company name change takes place.
