Employers often worry that employees don’t pay attention to their employee benefits communications. A survey published by the Business Group on Health reveals what resonates with employees:
- They look for guidance from those with expertise on health plans and benefits as opposed to their coworkers or managers
- They prefer information from outside vendors like their 401(k) provider and financial well-being vendors
- They gravitate to financial incentives and personalized information to compel them to act
- They say employee resource groups (ERGs) can be very helpful during open enrollment. With an ERG, employers can tailor their communications to each group to increase awareness and access
- When considering physical, mental or financial health, 57% say mental health is most important while only 30% say physical health is most important
