Blue Shield of California is waiving the DE 9C requirement for groups with 5 or more enrolling employees with these parameters:
- Groups must submit the Eligibility/Participation Attestation along with the most recent group medical bill
- Payroll is required for eligible employees who are not listed on the group medical bill, and a W-4 may be required for new hires
- Underwriting reserves the right to request the wage and tax information (DE 9C, payroll) whenever necessary to determine eligibility
- The 10 % variance rule has been removed
Groups that are not eligible for waiving the DE 9C are start-up groups, groups with both union and nonunion employees, and groups that are terminating a PEO arrangement. Contact your LISI Regional Sales Manager for Blue Shield of California selling strategies.
