Due to the wildfires in California, Anthem Blue Cross is extending their contract with Enloe Medical Center. Also, Blue Shield of California is reaching out to members to ensure access to care.
Anthem and Enloe extend their contract through Dec. 31, 2018 in light of Camp Fire
Anthem and Enloe are extending their contract through December 31, 2018 in light of the Camp Fire. As previously communicated, the contract between Anthem Blue Cross and Enloe Medical Center terminated effective November 1, 2018. However, due to the fires in Northern California and the impact on the communities in Butte County, including Adventist Feather River Hospital, Anthem Blue Cross and Enloe Medical Center have agreed to reinstate the prior contract through December 31. We will be sure to provide you with updates as they work through contract negotiations.
Blue Shield of California's Response
Blue Shield is working hard to ensure the safety and care of all Blue Shield of California members.
- Blue Shield is allowing the immediate refill of prescriptions for members in mandatory evacuation zones even if they are not due to be refilled.
- Medical Care Solutions will reach out to members in care and disease management programs in mandatory evacuation areas to ensure continuity of care for these members.
- Magellan Health, Blue Shield’s contracted managed care plan for behavioral health, is providing free access to resources, materials, and counseling services through its dedicated hotline: 1.800.327.7451.
- Blue Shield vision plan members in fire areas can get a replacement pair of lost or broken glasses and use out-of-network providers as needed with claims paid at in-network costs. Contact Vision Customer Service for assistance at 877.601.9083.
- Members who need immediate assistance should call the customer service at 800.393.6130.
- Members who may have lost or misplaced their identification card can print a new card on their website at blueshieldca.com. Alternatively, members can use the Blue Shield of California mobile app to access their ID card on their mobile device.
- Additionally, there are a few medical facilities that have been evacuated. Blue Shield of California is working with providers to ensure continuity of care for affected members. Their focus is ensuring the safety of all affected members and responding to their immediate care needs.
