Special Enrollment Period
Covered California for Small Business will have an upcoming Special Enrollment Period (SEP) from November 15, 2023 through December 15, 2023. During this period, new small groups do not need to meet the minimum participation requirements, however eligibility requirements still apply. This is a great opportunity for new groups who might not be able to meet the standard contribution requirements to select quality coverage.

Tax Credit for Small Groups
Eligible small businesses can potentially qualify for federal tax credits of up to 50% on premiums to help offset the cost of providing health insurance. This exclusive tax credit is only available through Covered California for Small Business (CCSB).
Qualifying groups can apply this tax credit on their Federal Tax Return. This credit may be available for your small business clients that:
- Have fewer than 25 full-time equivalent employees;
- Pay an average wage of less than $58,000 per year; and
- Pay at least half of their employees' health insurance premiums.
Tax credits work on a sliding scale: the smaller the business, or the lower the annual wage, or both, the larger the credit might be.

Brokers Earn More with CCSB
Brokers who sell 3 groups between 7/1/2023 and 1/1/2024 will qualify for the broker bonus program. Brokers who sell 6+ groups in during that time will receive an additional 50% to that bonus!
