- Pre-treatment estimates (also known as pre-determinations or pre-authorizations) are written estimates provided by Delta Dental to members and their dentists before a procedure takes place. While they aren't binding, they can be a very close approximation of the final costs of care, thus letting members plan and budget their out-of-pocket expenses. Pre-treatment estimates are available for all Delta Dental plan members and can be obtained via a simple four-step process.
- While you may think that allowing for high out-of-network reimbursements will keep group enrollees happy, doing so could actually be hurting groups and members in unexpected ways. High out-of-network utilization can make plans more expensive for everyone to account for the higher cost of care. Members may also miss out on quality guarantees and may face additional payments for the cost of care. Brokers can help promote in-network visits by helping groups re-evaluate plan reimbursement levels and create incentives for members to stay in-network when selecting their dental providers.
