Over the past two years, premiums EmblemHealth has received for their small group plans have been considerably less than the cost of care they have funded.
Looking ahead to 2024, EmblemHealth must make changes to their comprehensive small employer group products.
Effective Jan. 1, 2024, the following will apply for all new small groups (including Healthy NY groups):
- All small group plans will use the Select Care network with access to NY providers only. EmblemHealth will no longer offer Prime network to small groups.
- EmblemHealth will no longer pay broker commissions for new small group medical plans.
- For existing small groups, these changes will go into effect upon renewal in 2024.
EmblemHealth will introduce additional broker commission opportunities for other products and market segments soon, when more details become available.
