Florida Blue is in contract negotiations with VitalMD, a large physician group that does business under many different names in multiple locations throughout Florida. Member and employer notifications will begin on March 20, 2023, alerting them about the possibility that VitalMD may be exiting the Florida Blue network.
These negotiations affect both Florida Blue commercial members and Truli for Health members. VitalMD consists of 696 providers, including a combination of primary care providers (PCPs), physician extenders and specialists.
Florida Blue is hopeful that they can agree on terms that support their commitment to continue provide members with affordable, quality health care. However, if no agreement is reached, VitalMD will become an out-of-network provider effective April 16, 2023, and PCP reassignments may be necessary.
Member and employer notifications will begin on March 20, 2023, starting with Commercial HMO members who are assigned to a VitalMD PCP. Notifications will also be sent to Business Decision Makers beginning on March 20. Notifications to all other affected members will begin on March 21.
