The new Care4All California campaign includes a coalition of 50 organizations including consumer advocacy organizations, community groups, labor unions, progressive organizations and health care groups. Their policy agenda focuses on making measurable progress toward universal coverage. While the campaign includes many organizations that support single-payer and Medicare for all, Care4All sees these efforts as complementary, not competing. The 2018 Care4AII California campaign advances this policy agenda:
- Expand Medi-Cal coverage to all low-income Californians, regardless of immigration status.
- Increase financial assistance to reduce premiums and cost-sharing in Covered California.
- Eliminate hurdles to care for the most vulnerable Californians including low-income workers and families, seniors and people with disabilities.
- Improve health outcomes and equity through greater oversight and accountability.
- Address health care cost drivers that make care unaffordable, from insurance to hospital care to prescription drugs.
