Health Net’s upcoming Maternal and Infant Health Equity Program will launch on January 1, 2025. This new program will allow commercial plan members to access doula services for up to 12 months after a pregnancy event at no cost.
What is a Doula?
A doula is a non-medical professional who offers education, coaching, and emotional support during pregnancy, birth, the postpartum period, abortion, stillbirth and miscarriage. Doulas provide in-person or virtual support, depending on the needs of the enrollee. It's important to note that doulas do not have medical training and do not provide clinical care or advice (like a doctor or nurse).
What You Need to Know?
- Out-of-State PPO Members: Will only be eligible to access virtual doula services provided by a California-registered doula.
- Benefit Availability: The program will be available at no cost to eligible commercial enrollees.
