Kaiser Permanente is offering support for their members and in the workplace that have been impacted by the LA Wildfires. They have put together tools to assist for appointments, prescriptions, eyeglasses/contact lenses, mental health, community support, financial assistance and more. Guidance for Physical Care and Safety – Department of Health: smoke and dust precautions
- Avoid outdoor activities to reduce exposure, and minimize health risk
- Always keep medication on hand
- Do not smoke and avoid second-hand smoke
- Stay indoors and close all windows and doors
- Daily prescribed medications for respiratory illness should be taken on schedule
- Drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration
- If you leave the affected or are in the affected area, turn on your vehicle air condition and set it to the recirculate options
- Contact a doctor as soon as possible if you experience any health conditions
How to stay safe around ash and debris
If cleared to return to a fire damaged area, wear protective gear such as:
- Face Masks (NIOSH or N95)
- Goggles
- Gloves
- Long-sleeves
- Pants Socks
How to lead your teams during this time in the workplace:
- Take care of yourself
- Open Communication
- Listen to listen and ask questions
- Facilitate connection
- Adjust expectations
- Support time off and flexibility
