Guidance for Physical Care and Safety – Department of Health: smoke and dust precautions
- Avoid outdoor activities to reduce exposure, and minimize health risk
- Always keep medication on hand
- Do not smoke and avoid second-hand smoke
- Stay indoors and close all windows and doors
- Daily prescribed medications for respiratory illness should be taken on schedule
- Drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration
- If you leave the affected or are in the affected area, turn on your vehicle air condition and set it to the recirculate options
- Contact a doctor as soon as possible if you experience any health conditions
How to stay safe around ash and debris
If cleared to return to a fire damaged area, wear protective gear such as:
- Face Masks (NIOSH or N95)
- Goggles
- Gloves
- Long-sleeves
- Pants Socks

- Adjust expectations
- Support time off and flexibility
