The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has approved the use of updated COVID-19 vaccines for children 6 months to 5 years. Kaiser Permanente® expects to offer updated vaccines to this age group by December 22, 2022 — possibly sooner in some areas.
Due to high demand, appointments for updated vaccines for younger children may be limited for the first few weeks. Members can visit kp.org for appointment availability. Vaccine appointments with other providers can be found at vaccines.gov.
COVID-19 home antigen tests available from federal government
The federal government has restarted its program to deliver 4 free self-tests per household. Members can go to www.covid.gov/tests to get free COVID-19 tests this winter.
Kaiser Permanente's tips for celebrating safely this holiday season
COVID-19, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and flu cases are rising fast in our communities. As members gather for the holidays, Kaiser recommends practicing these tips to stay protected.
- You can get an updated COVID-19 booster and a flu shot for greater protection during the winter months.
- Strongly consider wearing a mask in indoor public places and continue to practice healthy habits such as washing your hands and staying home when sick.
- Consider taking a home antigen test before gathering with friends and family. In addition to ordering tests through the federal government, members can order home antigen tests on kp.org.
Learn to recognize cold, flu, or COVID-19 symptoms and how to feel better when you're under the weather. If you’re still unsure if you have a cold, flu, or COVID-19, start with a home antigen test to find out if you have COVID-19.
