Network Updates
The Health Net CommunityCare network is expanding to San Diego County, Region 19. The Health Net Silver HMO B uses this network, giving San Diego County a third Health Net plan to choose from. Starting in 2019, the Sutter Health Plus network will be known as “Sutter Health Plus” instead of “Full.” There is no change to the network. Finally, the UnitedHealthcare Silver HMO B and Platinum HMO C plans will be using the Advantage Network instead of the Alliance Network. These plans are available in all regions except 1, 2, 11, and 13.
Plans
Employers will have a third option when building their small group benefits program — Triple Tier Choice It gives employees access to plans and benefits in three adjoining metal tiers: Platinum, Gold, and Silver tiers. Employees will have four new plans in the portfolio to choose from:
- Kaiser Permanente® Silver HMO A: Available statewide
- Oscar Silver EPO C: Available in regions 15, 16, and 18
- Oscar Gold EPO D: Available in regions 15, 16, and 18
- UnitedHealthcare Gold HMO D: Advantage Network, available in all regions except 1, 2, 11, and 13.
The 2019 Plan Transition Guide is available now with plan-mapping information for Sharp Health Plan Bronze HMO D and UnitedHealthcare Bronze HMO C plans.
Benefit Changes
Many plans will experience benefit changes to coinsurance, copays, deductibles, and/or out-of-pocket maximums. The 2019 benefit summaries will be posted once CaliforniaChoice makes them available.
Underwriting
There is no underwriting change. The “no off-anniversary move” rule will be enforced in 2019 (Small groups can only move on the group’s anniversary date from Kaiser Permanente® to CaliforniaChoice or vice versa — no exceptions).
Updates to Materials
The 2019 forms, flyers, and brochures will be available as they get released. Be sure to use the correct version of the employer applications and employee applications for the requested effective date since earlier versions will not be accepted.
