Sharp Health Plan changed their small group underwriting guidelines, making it easier to do business:
- Participation has been lowered from 70% to 60%.
- The minimum participation has been lowered to 5 enrolled when wrapping alongside other carriers. There is no percentage requirement. (It was previously 50% or 6 enrolled, whichever is greater.)
- Employers with 1-5 enrolled employees can now offer up to 2 plans on 1 network. (Previously, it was 1 plan.)
- Groups that terminate services through a PEO and convert employees to W-4 are eligible for coverage if they provide a cancellation letter and a detailed payroll from the PEO with their submission. A detailed payroll must be provided after 45 days. (Previously, a group that terminated services had to be in business 45 days before the requested effective date.)
All guideline changes apply to new business written January 1, 2019 and later. Download the 2019 Sharp Underwriting Guidelines. Contact your LISI Regional Sales Manager for more information.
