Many small businesses need solutions that would make it easier for them and their employees to afford and access health coverage, according to a report by the Small Business Majority and Families USA. Sixteen percent of small business owners plan to make changes or reduce healthcare coverage in the next few months to keep their businesses open.
Of the small employers who were forced to make cuts to employee health coverage, 36% decreased their employer contribution to healthcare premiums, and 56% moved to a plan with a lower premium. However, 27% maintained healthcare coverage for temporarily furloughed employees.
