Kaiser Permanente® and Cigna's PPO Network Partnership allow the flexibility and freedom members need, nationwide.
When this partnership took effect on August 1, 2022, Kaiser's new collaboration with Cigna allowed members new travel coverage options to get urgent and emergency care from Cigna's national PPO network of physicians, hospitals, and urgent care clinics while traveling outside of states where Kaiser Permanente operates (except Washington).
What does this mean for your clients?
This new feature gives members access to Cigna's extensive national PPO network of more than one million physicians and other care providers, should they need emergency or urgent care during their travels outside of states where Kaiser Permanente operates. When members receive care through Cigna's PPO Network of Providers, the member will be billed for their standard copay or cost-share based on their benefit plan. They will not have to pay the provider up front and then submit a claim to Kaiser Permanente for reimbursement.
How do members find and receive care from Cigna's PPO Network Providers as a Kaiser member?
To get urgent or emergency care from a Cigna PPO Network provider, members can go to kp.org/travel and search the Cigna PPO Network Directory to find the closest Cigna PPO provider based on their needs.
When members make an appointment, walk-in, or arrive by ambulance, they should show their digital ID card in the Kaiser Permanente mobile app. It has enhanced details to help members get care. Members can also show their new travel card which they started receiving in mid-November of 2022.
Starting on January 1st of this year, the Cigna PPO Network is the provider network outside of Kaiser Permanente states for members in California, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, and the Mid-Atlantic states enrolled in a 3-Tier POS and PPO plan (Small and Large Commercial groups) for all covered benefits.
