UnitedHealthcare has seen increasing interest in their Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and mental health offerings in recent weeks. Below you can find information about the availability of these products:
An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is embedded in UnitedHealthcare's fully insured PPO products, which covers up to three free counseling sessions per incident, per year, to help members with a variety of personal problems. PPO members can reach the EAP by calling (888) 887-4114, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Note that fully insured HMO products do not have an embedded EAP.
All California-sitused small group products include mental health coverage. Specific coverage details are on the Summaries of Benefits & Coverage (SBC) and Summaries of Benefits (SOB).
Members on PPO plans can access a list of behavioral health providers by going to myUHC.com, selecting the Behavioral Health Directory, choosing "Employer and Individual Plans," and then entering the options that apply to them.
Members on HMO plans can access a list of behavioral health providers by going to the Optum Live and Work Well site, selecting "browse as a guest with a company access code," and then using the access code UHC. Members are reminded that, if behavioral health requires prior authorization, they should call the number on their ID card for assistance.
Both behavioral health directories include virtual providers.
