UnitedHealthcare rates for Q3 2021 are now available to quote in Ebix. Average statewide quarterly rate change:
- HMO 2.3%
- PPO 2.4%
- EPO 1.7% in regions 2 and 4-9, all others received a rate pass
Choice Simplified Update
Beginning with July effective dates, UnitedHealthcare is moving away from having 3 Choice Simplified portfolios. All plans will now be available in a single Choice Simplified offering! This allows employers to have any combination of plans and networks, without worrying about which plans can be paired together.
Employers have the option to select a base plan for contributions, allowing employees to buy up to richer network and plan options. Expect brochures and a new employer form to begin rolling out in the next few weeks.
Updated HRA Wrap Guidelines
As of July 2021 effective dates, UnitedHealthcare will no longer monitor or prohibit HRA wraps alongside their products. This change is made to bring their guidelines in line with the market. The Underwriting Guidelines have been updated and now show the following statement:
"Carrier does not endorse or monitor the offering of an HRA, please seek CPA counsel to confirm if the business structure is eligible for a reimbursement arrangement”
Important Dates
The system changes needed to transition to a single Choice Simplified portfolio have caused some delays with July 2021 renewals. Dates will shift as follows:
