UnitedHealthcare is providing enhanced support and resources to health plan members and patients regarding COVID-19:
- Free Testing: UnitedHealthcare has waived all member cost-sharing for COVID-19 diagnostic testing provided at approved locations per CDC guidelines. UnitedHealthcare is also supporting self-insured customers choosing to implement similar actions.
- Emotional Support Line: Optum’s emotional-support helpline is available 24/7 at 866.342.6892, and is open to anyone experiencing anxiety about the coronavirus. Also, liveandworkwell.com offers emotional-support resources and information.
- Trained Clinicians: To limit the spread of COVID-19, OptumCare clinicians have been trained on CDC safety and clinical care protocols.
- Prescription Refill Assistance: Eligible UnitedHealthcare and OptumRx members who need help getting an early prescription refill can call the customer care number on the back of their medical ID card or 800.788.4863
- Virtual Visits: For general questions or concerns, members are encouraged to use UnitedHealthcare’s Virtual Visit capability through the UnitedHealthcare app
- Advanced Analytics: UnitedHealth Group is using advanced analytics to continuously adapt support services for members, patients, and employees
People who think they may have been exposed to COVID-19 should contact their primary care provider immediately for guidance. Advance telephone calls are highly recommended to ensure safe and proper patient handling.
UnitedHealthcare is encouraging people to stay informed about the evolving coronavirus situation by visiting the CDC website. Those with travel plans are encouraged to review CDC travel advisories. The CDC recently released CDC travel guidance for older Americans, people with underlying health concerns, and anyone planning cruise ship travel.
Dr. Richard Migliori, chief medical officer, UnitedHealth Group said, “Our top priority is the health and wellbeing of our members and patients – and the safety of those who deliver care. While the situation is dynamic, we are committed to adapting and supporting those we serve.”
