Effective January 1, 2020, Western Health Advantage (WHA) will no longer be part of Canopy Health. This means members will no longer have access to Canopy affiliated medical groups in the East Bay, San Francisco, and counties south of San Francisco. John Muir, UCSF, and Santa Clara County IPA are notable medical groups that will no longer be considered in-network. WHA has sent notices to impacted employers in areas that will no longer be part of WHA’s service area.
WHA’s network stretches from El Dorado County through Sacramento up through North Bay counties. Because WHA has secured direct contracts with notable providers in Marin, Sonoma, and Napa counties, the Canopy transition will not impact North Bay members. WHA has a transition site that outlines their 2020 service area and answers common questions.
