AB 1400 (CalCare) passed out of the Assembly Appropriations Committee. The bill is now slated to go before the entire Assembly for a vote. Implementation is contingent on a statute to create revenue mechanisms to fund CalCare, a fiscal report on whether CalCare can be implemented, and further approval by the Legislature.
Brokers are being asked for their help in asking the California Assembly to oppose AB 1400. It would mandate a government run single payer health care program and abolish private health insurance, Medi-Cal, Medicare, Covered California, and the valuable advocacy services of insurance professionals.
