As previously communicated, StanCorp Financial Group, Inc. (The Standard) will soon acquire Elevance's life and disability (L&D) business. The contract is expected to close in the first quarter of 2024. To prepare for the transition to The Standard, Anthem is migrating L&D groups to a single enrollment and billing system called Compass.
Here’s how the process will work
The migration will happen in waves based on your clients’ renewal dates. During the transition, Anthem’s L&D team will take over all enrollment and billing administration for L&D plans, separate from Anthem’s medical, dental, vision, and supplemental health plans.
RENEWAL DATE | MIGRATION STARTS* |
---|---|
January (CA) | January 2024 |
January (non-CA) | October 2023 |
February-March | September 2023 |
April-June | November 2023 |
July-September | December 2023 |
October-December | February 2024 |
* Some groups may be migrated on different dates than this due to complexity.
Here’s how Anthem is letting your clients know about the changes
Approximately two months before their migration start date, Anthem will mail clients a letter detailing the changes and outlining migration steps and timelines based on their in-force coverage. Anthem's L&D team will be available by phone or email to support them throughout the transition.
Anthem will email you reminders as your clients approach their migration dates.
Some of your clients will need to sign and return a form to access the Compassi employer self-service and MyOnlineBill payment tools. Anthem will include the form with their letter. Please encourage them to return it to Anthem right away. They won’t be able to use online self-service or pay their bill online if Anthem doesn't have the signed form by their migration start date.
What is changing
The L&D claims process and contacts will not change. Anthem will continue to administer all L&D claims without interruption. In addition, these changes only affect L&D plans. Anthem medical, dental, vision, and supplemental health plans are not affected.
